From Remote Objects to Physically Distributed Objects

چکیده
Present-day object-oriented middleware provides little support for the distribution, replication and caching of the state of a distributed object. This makes these platforms unsuitable for the development of large-scale distributed applications. We argue that the model of distributed objects on which these middleware platforms are based hinders the addition of comprehensive distribution and replication support to these platforms. We present an alternative view of distributed objects, in which objects are not only in control of the functional aspects of their implementation but also in control of their nonfunctional aspects, in particular, the distribution and replication of their state. We claim that a middleware platform based on this view of distributed objects is better suited for developing the large-scale applications

Kohonen Self Organizing for Automatic Identification of Cartographic Objects
Automatic identification and localization of cartographic objects in aerial and satellite images have gained increasing attention in recent years in digital photogrammetry and remote sensing. Although the automatic extraction of man made objects in essence is still an unresolved issue, the man made objects can be extracted from aerial photos and satellite images. Recently, the high-resolution s...
متن کامل3D Modelling of Under Ground Burried Objects Based on Ground Penetration Radar
There is a growing demand for mapping and 3D modelling of buried objects such as pipelines, agricultural hetitage, landmines and other buried objects. Usually, large scale and high resolution maps from these objects are needed. Manually map generation and modeling of these objects are cost and time consuming and is dependent on lots of resources. Therefore, automating the subsurface mapping and...
متن کاملActive Interaction: Live Remote Interaction through Video Feeds
Ubiquitous computing environments and the plethora of mobile devices that populate them have led to a global trend for remote collaboration and interaction. This trend demands seamless interfaces for remote interaction with these ubiquitous environments and their inhabitants. Existing applications for remote interactions are limited and typically require the user to mentally translate virtual a...
متن کاملEncapsulating distribution by remote objects
Middleware for modern office environments and many other application areas needs to provide support for a myriad of different, highly-mobile objects. At the same time, it should be able to scale to vast numbers of objects that may possibly be dispersed over a large wide-area network. The combination of flexibility and scalability requires support for object-specific solutions that is hardly add...
متن کاملExtending the Qualitative Trajectory Calculus Based on the Concept of Accessibility of Moving Objects in the Paths
Qualitative spatial representation and reasoning are among the important capabilities in intelligent geospatial information system development. Although a large contribution to the study of moving objects has been attributed to the quantitative use and analysis of data, such calculations are ineffective when there is little inaccurate data on position and geometry or when explicitly explaining ...
